I've been adding rag quilts for babies and children in my shop recently. One has sold so far. I'm really excited about being able to add them now that I have my CPSIA labels. I've been using all flannels, but I plan on making some using cotton quilt fabrics in the future. Here are pictures of the ones I've made so far, more to come!:)

New Sewing Machine!

Well, I finally did it! I got the Brother Laura Ashley NX-2000 a little over a week ago and love it! It came with a nice rebate and a free serger. I didn't need another serger, so they gave me a good deal on the machine instead. I'm still taking it slow because new machines always make me a little nervous. But, it really is a beautiful machine and has so many cool features.

I'm having fun saving special stitches that I like in the memory and I love the thread cutter. Plus, I can program the machine to either do a lock stitch or a reverse stitch at the end of each seam. I love that! I can just sit back and watch it sew all by itself.lol

Still so much more to learn, though. I have my first class to learn more about the machine later in December and I'm really looking forward to it. I know I already have a lot of questions on some of the functions and how they work. Can't wait for that class! It took awhile to get the Laura Ashley, saving money from sales. I'm so glad I was finally able to get it.

Thanks for listening to me go on and on about this machine. It really is special and if you ever have a chance to try one out, go for it! You'll probably do what I did and dream about it from then on.:)

Silly title, I know. I used to make little girls' purses and stopped making them when the CPSIA laws started. It all sounded a little overwhelming and I didn't want to do the wrong thing and get in trouble selling items for children. But, I did a lot of research and finally ordered my CPSIA labels. So, I'm back to making little purses and should have a couple ready to list in a day or two. I can't wait to use up some of the cute fabrics I stocked up on a few years ago. All that fabric has just been sitting in my Rubbermaid boxes and I had been thinking of just selling it. I'm glad I did my research on CPSIA. I sure did miss making purses for little ones. Give me a couple of days and I'll get some pictures up on my blog of the purses. They are so cute!

It Was A Long, Hot Summer!

Hi everyone, I hope you all got through the summer okay. We had a cool down a few days ago, but it's been warm again the past couple of days. They say we're about to get down right chilly starting tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm ready for sweaters, jeans, beautiful fall leaves, and lots of craft shows. I love going to craft shows in the fall. The weather has to be cool, though, or it's just not very much fun. So, here's hoping we have some beautiful weather.

I stayed busy this summer sewing. Trying to get as much as I can into my Etsy shop before the Christmas season hits. It was very slow for a couple of months, but it picked back up in August. So, now I'm juggling getting things in the shop and doing custom orders when they come in.

We didn't take any type of vacation this year and don't have one planned for the fall. Just tight on money(new roof) and I'm trying to save for a new sewing machine. My dream is to get the Brother Laura Ashley NV-2000! I went to look at one a few months ago and fell in love with it. Since then, they have come out with a Laura Ashley sewing/embroidery machine, too. But, I'll be lucky to afford the NV-2000. I really need a nice back-up machine in case my Janome needs work. But, as soon as I get it, I'm going to start saving for a new embroidery machine. Not sure if I'll go with the Laura Ashley or something else. I have to keep telling myself, one thing at a time.:)

Here's some of the totes I have for sale in my shop. I have lots of fabric stash, so send me a convo if you want something in a different color or print. I'm trying to use up some of my stash, though, before I start buying more fabric. Hopefully, I'll have something that you will like.

I didn't realize how long it's been since the last time I posted! Where has the time gone! I took some time off from adding things to my shop so I could work on figuring out how to make a diaper bag. After making a couple bags and changing things a few times, I came up with a pattern that I really like. This diaper bag has a large inside pocket with two velcro strips to keep it closed and two bottle pockets on the inside gussets. The bag is a little larger than my regular purses, so there's a lot of room for diapers, baby wipes, bottles, and all the things you need for your little one. Of course, it's still a great everyday tote, too! I'll be making more very soon.:) Here's the first one listed in my shop ~~

I added a chenille purse to my shop today, so I'm getting back into the swing of things, I think. I have so many ideas running around in my head. Now, I just need to start working on them! :)

It's been cold and gray here in Missouri for the past few days. But, today the sun is shining and it's in the 60's! Even warmer tomorrow with a high around 80, but then back to cold and rain. Blah! I wish the weather would make up its mind and realize it's Spring!! Anyway, I've been going through my Spring and Summer fabrics and here's the newest tote in my shop. Another one is almost finished. I figure if I can't get the weather to cooperate, at least I'll have some pretty fabrics around me to brighten my day!:)

I found some fun Michael Miller fabrics and have been having a great time making things with them. I've had time to make two totes so far and neither one lasted very long in my shop.:) I have enough fabric to make a bunch more, just need to find the time. I do have a pincushion in my shop using one of the fabrics with peace signs. In between making things with this fabric, I'm busy making candle mat sets for a couple of custom orders. Well, It's Been Awhile Again!

Boy, I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted last. The Christmas season was so busy that it was hard to keep things in my Etsy shop. January came and went with me making a few things and selling them pretty quickly. I stayed busy making custom orders for candle mat sets. Mostly Valentine themed.:) In between sewing, I was busy getting all my paperwork in order for taxes. Boy, is that a chore! But, I just can't think about sewing much until everything is in order. So, lots of spreadsheets and receipts! I always try to schedule an early consultation with my accountant, so that's all done and the taxes are filed! So, now I'm back to sewing.

Oh, and we've been getting lots of snow just like so many around the country. We got about 13" in the last week. That was a crazy storm that closed down Hwy. 70 for almost all of Missouri! Which they say is a first. I haven't been anywhere until today. Paul took me to get groceries. It snowed again last night and we had another 3". My little G6 just doesn't do well on all that snow and ice. Paul has a new AWD Equinox, so no problems at all for him. You can guess what kind of car I'm getting next time!:)

I hope everyone is staying warm and safe during all the snowstorms. We have more coming tonight through Wednesday, I think. I'm so ready for Spring!

Wow, this has been the busiest Christmas season since I opened my shop almost 3 years ago! My days are spent sewing, taking pictures, and listing new items in between getting things mailed out. I'll need to wind down next week, so I can get things ready around here for Christmas. Plus, I need to make at least one Christmas gift that I've been putting off.

Everything has been selling well, but I think the candle mat sets are the biggest hit this year. Here are a few more that I've recently added to my shop ~~

I hope everyone is having a busy and blessed Christmas season! I think there's only about 11 days until Christmas. I better get back in my sewing room and get sewing. Good thing I love to sew! :)

Took a little time off from blogging

I didn't realize how long it's been since I wrote on my blog! I've been staying busy sewing and trying to get 50 items in my shop. I'm almost there, last count was 44! Not that I'm complaining, of course, but it's been hard to get up there because sales have picked up. I listed a bunch of candle mat sets and pincushions first, so I would have some less expensive things available. Now, I'm working on totes and then I'm hoping to have time to add a couple of quilts. I'm going to try to keep up on my blog in the mean time. We'll see how that goes, though. Just too much to do and not enough time to do it all, it seems.

I looked out the window a few days ago and saw two adult and four baby turkeys in our front yard. I hurried up and grabbed the camera before they were out of sight. I had to take the pictures through the blinds because I was afraid I'd scare them if they saw or heard anything. So, the pictures aren't the greatest and I missed getting them altogether. I'd like to start featuring Etsy sellers on Tuesdays. Alot of people do features on Friday, but I know I'll never remember to post then. So, here's the first of Feature Tuesday!:) There are many talented people on Etsy, so I think I'll start by telling you about a couple who have added my items to their treasuries in the past few months. Dapple Grey sells vintage items and pretty braided headbands. I love how she takes soft cotton jersey, dyes it, and makes beautiful headbands...She made this lovely treasury with dusty pinks and included my dusty pink rag quilt. Also, here's a pretty headband available in Dapple Grey's shop~~

Another talented Etsian is Textile Monster....beautiful scarves and wraps! The shop is one year old and doing very well! Textile Monster's trademark is the "Original Neck Rag"...Here is the very pretty treasury my rag quilt tote is featured in and a gorgeous scarf from Textile Monster's shop~~

Took a little time off back to sewing now

Here's my latest listings since taking a little time off from sewing. It's nice to be back at it again! I'm going to try to get my shop stocked up a little earlier this year for the holiday season. Last year it was crazy busy with custom orders and my store suffered. So, I'm hoping to get a few more things listed in the next month, crossing my fingers I'll be a little more prepared!:)

Today is our 32nd Anniversary!

Paul and I have been married 32 years today.:) We were both 19 when we got married and we look back at those pictures now and can't believe how young we were! We had an afternoon garden wedding at a winery on Main St. in St. Charles, Mo. It was a pretty day, not too hot. Nothing like today, it's terribly hot and humid!

I need to scan a few pictures of our wedding and post them sometime. It was nothing fancy, I didn't want my mom and dad to spend much money. So, I wore a simple white long sundress and a floppy white hat:) and my grandma made the bridesmaid and maid of honor's sundresses. It sounds funny, but they were gingham checked, one wore blue and the other green. I carried a bouquet of daisies, my favorite flower. I wanted everything to be very down home and simple and I've never looked back and wished I had a fancy dress or any of that.

Oh, changing the subject, I got my 100th sale! Yay! It feels good to finally see that number! I've been working on a sample diaper bag, just to see how it would turn out. It was okay, but I thought of a few things I'd like to change. So, be looking for some diaper bags in the near future in my shop!

I've been so busy sewing, I haven't kept up on my blog very well the past couple of weeks. A couple new totes and three pincushions are done and in my shop. I started cutting out fabric today for a diaper bag. From what I've seen on Etsy, a lot of rag quilters make the normal size tote as a diaper bag and it works just fine. But, I thought I'd try to make one a little bigger and see how it goes. I want it to have lots of pockets for bottles, diapers, baby wipes, etc. Hopefully, it'll turn out the way I'm picturing it in my mind. I'll see how much I can get done by the weekend. My birthday is Sunday, so that'll be a busy day.:)

I just listed this patriotic tote on Etsy. I think it could probably get to a buyer by the 4th because I send Priority. It usually takes 2-3 days to get to California from here in Missouri. Otherwise, this would be a great tote for anyone who loves everything patriotic throughout the year. I love the primitive coloring in the flags and stars fabrics. I Made The Front Page!!

Last night was exciting! I was checking my views on craftcult and my For the Love of Nature pincushion had 84 views! By the time I figured out I was on the front page and got a screenshot, it had over 250 views! Lots of views and some hearts on other items, too. Thanks to Sigmosaics for making such a pretty treasury and including my pincushion! Now I know that feeling of being on the front page and it really is as exciting as everyone says it is!:)

Back To Sewing and Sunshine and Blue Skies

My shoulder has been giving me trouble for the past week and trying to sew has been too painful. It finally started feeling better on the weekend, so I finished clipping a rag quilt and got it listed today on Etsy today. It's made with pretty dusty rose floral fabrics and the back is a pretty soft sage green Kona solid.

On another note, we've had so much rain and gloomy skies for the past couple of weeks. Really depressing! But, when I got up this morning the sun was shining and pretty blue skies! You would think that would make me want to go do something outside. But, I'm weird.:) It perked me up and I just wanted to get in my sewing room and create something! So, I finished a pincushion and started cutting fabric for another quilt. Quilts take me awhile to finish, so it'll be a few days before it's done and I get pictures of it. A sweet lady who has been a great customer and stitching friend asked if I could make her a pincushion with teapots and teacups fabric. She has tea party pins that came with a cross stitch project and wanted to have a special pincushion for them. I searched around and found this cute fabric. From what I can tell it's not being made any longer, so I bought extra. I'm making a table runner right now with it. Just need to finish clipping the seams and get it in the wash tomorrow. It should be up in my Etsy shop in the next couple of days.

Busy days, not much blogging

It's been awhile since I blogged. Very busy sewing, taking pictures, making listings, you know!:) Our daughter came to visit for a few days during her Spring break and her birthday. We had a really nice time. She was able to go out to eat with her sis and see one of her good friends while she was here. Now, she's back to work and school.

We had a quiet Easter, though. Just the two of us, so we went out to Bandanna's for BBQ! Yum! I was surprised at how busy it was, lots of people getting carry out. I guess there are a lot of people who like BBQ on Easter. Who knew! :)

I added a couple pincushions and a tote yesterday to my shop. I found some really cute fabrics for cat and needlework lovers, so I made a tote and pincushion so far with them. And a pretty sage green pincushion.

Oh well, just a quick note today. Back to sewing for the rest of the day for me! Hope everyone is having as pretty a day as we are! Lots of sunshine, a little cool, but a perfect Spring day!

I've been busy sewing and adding to my Etsy shop. It's hard to keep the purses stocked up, though. I wish I could sew faster! :) But, I do have many pincushions to pick from. Here's the latest tote in my shop. I used some retro-looking floral fabric and vintage chenille. I thought it was neat that the chenille flower in the middle went so well with the fabric! When I saw the colors and prints of the fabrics, all I could think of is "come on, Spring!". I know I've had enough of this cold, snowy winter!

I finished this chenille tote a few days ago and it sold right away. I would love to be able to have a few of these in my shop for people to pick from, but they go fast. I can't complain, though! :) I guess I just need to make a New Year's resolution to work faster!
The second picture shows my new labels that I've recently started adding to my purses. I've forgotten a couple of times to sew them in. Paul made a label to put on my sewing machine to help remind me. So far, it's worked! :)

I haven't done much with my blog lately. This holiday season is so much more busier on Etsy than last year and I just haven't had time to do much blogging, twittering, etc. I've been getting custom orders, plus trying to add something now and then to my store when I have time. Right now, I'm working on a quilt and hope to have it clipped and in the wash by the weekend. The fabrics are so pretty, can't wait to get pictures.

I hope all of my Etsy friends are keeping busy and getting lots of sales! I think I'll be taking a break from sewing for a few days next week to decorate the house for Christmas. Becky comes home next weekend and I want the house to be all Christmassy for her! She can only stay a couple of days and then she needs to get back to Columbia for her job. We can't wait to see her!

Becky went on a trip to London this week and took lots of pictures. Here are just a handful of the ones she put up on her Facebook page. She had a great time even though it was a short two day trip. She's hoping she'll be able to go back someday and be able to stay longer. She still has some pictures of Liverpool and Oxford that she wants to add, so I'll get a few more pictures up of her trip soon. 3 weeks left and then she'll be back home! :)

I thought I'd try something different and made a Christmas rag quilt table runner using some cute red and white snowmen and snowflakes fabric. I had some left over from the candlemat and coaster set I have in my shop. I can make the runners in different sizes depending on the dimensions of your table or hutch. I haven't been blogging like I would like lately. I've been busy sewing and stocking up my shop for the holidays. It was busy a few weeks ago and then really slowed down. But, I'm getting lots of views and hearts, so I hope that means people are going to come back again soon. I listed a few more candlemat and coaster sets tonight, all Christmas-themed. Today, I started working on a table runner. It's the first one I've made, so I hope it turns out and I can add some for sale soon. It's nice to do something other than purses now and then. Well, I went to the doctor on Monday because of some numbness in my hand and he said I have carpal tunnel syndrome. Not a bad case, but he told me to wear a brace and take a break from sewing for a couple of weeks. It sure has been a long week! I'm trying to keep busy, though. Today I did a lot of paperwork that I've been putting off and have a little bit more that I want to finish on Saturday.

I did get one last tote finished before I had to stop and listed it last night. It's another pink vintage chenille tote. This is a very soft, fluffy tote. I can't get over how the pretty the chenille squares are and I have so many more to work with. I can't wait to get back to work!:)

Our Daughter's Trip and a Rag Quilt

Our daughter, Rebecca, leaves for England next week! She's coming home from college on Sunday to stay with us until Friday when she leaves. She'll be going to school in England for one semester and be back a little before Christmas. We're so excited for her because this is a dream for her to be able to go overseas! We'll miss her, but we know she's going to enjoy every minute and will have so many things to tell us about when she gets home! We're very proud of you, Bec, and so happy that you get to live your dream!

I finally finished the rag quilt I started before I got sick. It's a lap quilt size and made with blue plaid and gingham homespuns for the front squares and soft blue flannels for the back squares. I put a white flannel in the middle for batting and to help rag up the seams. It's listed in my Etsy shop.

Now, I'm working on a rag quilt tote and then I'm not sure. Either another quilt or some chenille purses. The chenilles all sold and I want to get a few more in my shop before the Christmas season starts. Plus, I have to use up some of the hundreds of chenille squares I bought! :) It's going to be a busy few weeks stocking up my shop.

I hope everyone has been enjoying their Labor Day weekend! It's been cloudy and rainy here and I feel bad for people who had picnics planned. Paul and I have had a pretty quiet weekend. We did go out for breakfast yesterday morning and then to a craft fair for a little bit. I wanted to visit my friend's booth and see how she was doing. Then, we walked around for a little bit and came on home. Looked like it could rain anytime and we did get some later in the afternoon.

I'm still not feeling 100% yet, but I'm going to make myself go into my sewing room tomorrow and get the rest of the fabric cut out for the quilts. Hope I can remember how to do it! lol Seems like it's been a long time since I've been in there! :)

Sewing Withdrawals!

We've been sick and I'm having sewing withdrawals! Paul started feeling sick over the weekend and I didn't want to be in my sewing room in case he needed something. Then, I came down with it. Feeling a little better today. I have a couple quilts partially cut out and I want to get back to them in a day or two. And I have a couple custom orders waiting.

One funny thing I've noticed since I started selling on Etsy. Whenever I'm sick or when we've gone on vacation, it's interesting how my sales and questions about orders pick up during those times. Not that I'm complaining, though!:) I think it helps me to get better faster knowing that I have something to work on. I wonder if that happens with anyone else.

I'm really happy that all my chenille totes have sold, two this past week! I bought a lot of chenille squares, hoping the totes would sell. So, now I can get busy making more of them. I have so many things in my head that I want to make and nowhere near enough time! :)

I listed this tote a few days ago, but just getting a chance to sit down and blog about it. Homespun is a perfect fabric for rag quilting. It fluffs up beautifully, especially with flannel used in the squares. This homespun is so pretty with all the colors, especially the blue thread with little nubs running through it. So pretty!

I signed up for a Facebook Fan page a couple months ago and remember thinking it looked confusing and I'd get back to it later. Well, I completely forgot I had it. :P Went back to Facebook yesterday to sign up for one and realized I already had one. Geesh!
So, I started working on it today and it is confusing. Took me forever to get the fan box on the page. Actually, I have no idea what I did to get it on there. Nothing I tried worked and then all of a sudden it appeared. I wish I knew what I did. But, it's there so I guess that's all that matters. Just a little bit more to go before I make it public. I need to get some photo albums filled first and put up a couple posts to get it started. It's been an experience, that's for sure!

I used fun sewing themed fabrics for this tote. Lots of buttons, pincushions, spools of thread, etc. with fun button flowers. I love the browns, oranges, yellows, and greens in the fabrics. Lots of pockets inside and out so you can use this as an everyday tote or for your sewing projects. I used a new layered sandwich of fabric, flannel, batting, and interfacing that gives the tote extra structure and fun, fluffy seams!

Finishing a purse and talking on the phone!

Not alot going on this past week other than working on a custom order. It went out in the mail today. I had plans to get another one started today, but ended up talking on the phone a lot! lol

I talked to my sister this morning for a pretty long time(we always talk forever), talked to my daughter, Bec(a few times, she moved yesterday to a new place) my best friend called(she's on vacation in Texas and wanted to let me know how it's going) and I talked to an old friend from high school who found me on Facebook today. We caught up a little bit, but I need to e-mail her so we can "talk" some more. That was neat to wake up to a message from her on Facebook. We had talked about 5 years ago, but then lost touch. I tried to find her again a couple of years ago, but the phone number I called didn't work. I didn't know it, but she moved from Missouri, then to Arkansas, and now she's in Oklahoma. So, we have a lot of catching up to do.

Anyway, here's a couple pics of the latest purse for the nice lady who ordered it. She was great to work with and it was a pleasure to make this for her.

Here are a couple purses I made last year and took them out of the store when Autumn was over. I'm sure I blogged about them last year when I made them, but thought I'd put them back up again this year. The scarecrow one was featured on a blog last year and I remember being so excited because it was my first feature. For the life of me, I can't remember what blog it was anymore. It's one where almost everyday an item is featured, very nice blog. Hmm, oh well it'll come to me later. So, I added these back into my store and have some different Autumn fabrics to make a few more in the next few weeks.

Right now, I'm working on a custom order for a super nice lady. She wanted something in purples and sage green. I just happened to have a few different fabrics in my stash that she liked. So, I'm busy working on that. I've slowed down a lot keeping my store stocked and other things like twitter and blogging. I guess it's because it's summer and things are slow. Hope to get some motivation here soon so I can stock up for the fall. And a few more custom orders would be great, too! :)

Paul and I will be celebrating our 31st anniversary tomorrow! He's hoping he can take the day off. Not sure what we have planned, though, other than going out to eat. Last year for our 30th we went to Branson for a few days. This year will be a quiet one. If the weather's nice, maybe we can go down on Main Street in St. Charles and check out the shops. Or a movie. It'll be a spur of the moment thing this year. Not even sure where to go eat. I got a gift card to Olive Garden for my birthday, so maybe there.

We're really looking forward to Saturday and praying for no rain. Our town is having a citywide yard sale! This is the first time they've had it that I know of, so not sure what to expect. But, we're hoping for lots of Christmas stuff for Paul's light display and lots of fabric for me! :-)

So, things are kind of quiet around here, no real plans for the summer. We do have plans for a trip to Kansas City in the fall. Neither one of us can remember ever being there, so that's something to look forward to.

Well, better late than never, I guess. I was hoping to get this up a couple of days ago. This featured artist really stood out to me because she does something I've always wished I could master. I've done a little ribbonwork from a kit, but nothing nearly as lovely as her gorgeous work. Her creations are breathtaking!

Just finished listing a few new things in my store...I'll post a few pictures after I tell you all about my week. I started carrying one of my totes recently, it's the one in my twitter background. I just love it, bright blue and yellow daisies. It must stand out because I had comments about it a few times this week while I was shopping. Now and then I've handed out a business card, but this week I gave out three in just a couple of days. One of the ladies said carrying my purse was "great advertising".

I know many artists and crafters make things that can't be worn everyday. But, if you can, do it! You never know when someone will comment on it and it gives you an opening to talk about your work and give them a card. Not sure how many sales will come from it, but it sure was fun to have my purse noticed!

Had a nice weekend

We had a nice weekend. Paul didn't have to work overtime, so yesterday we went shopping. We went to Costco to check it out before our Sam's membership is up in a month or so. I've heard alot of good things about Costco and we were debating on whether to start going there instead. We went with the thought of looking for the things we like to buy at Sam's and check out the prices. We were disappointed, Costco didn't have many of the things we were looking for. We ended up going to Sam's today and bought a couple of things. It was kind of spur of the moment so I didn't have a list ready. I do need to make another trip soon to do some stocking up. So, looks like we're sticking with Sam's.

This morning we went to our local flea market. We only get a chance to go once or twice a year. They have it every Sunday morning year round. I don't know how many people show up in the dead of winter, but they say it's open. It's a huge flea market here in Missouri. I think it's pretty close if not the biggest one in the state. I know I've read good reviews about it. Anyway, we walked around for a couple of hours looking for those plastic Christmas decorations that people put in their yards. Paul is looking for either a Santa or a snowman. We didn't find anything yet, but we'll keep on trying. I found a cutter chenille bedspread in a pretty pink. It needs a good washing and then I'll see if I can salvage some pieces from it. There are some pretty flowers that I'm hoping will fluff up nicely when it's washed and dried.

So, all in all, it was a good weekend. It was nice to take a couple days off from sewing, but I'm ready to get back to it tomorrow. I have a tote in the works with chenille squares and I'm anxious to see how it's going to turn out.

Tags for My Purses

I've been thinking for awhile now about getting tags to put inside my purses. I found a seller on Etsy I like, but I'm trying to decide what to put on the tag. Many purse sellers just put their business name on the tag and it looks fine. I've seen a few that added either their Etsy address or e-mail address. I know my e-mail address would be too long, so that's out. I do put a business card with my Etsy address in the package. Just can't decide if it would look funny to have P and J Crafts and under that, www.pandjcrafts.etsy.com, on the tag or not. What do you all think would look the best? I hate making decisions.

I just checked the UPS website and it looks like my package is on track to arrive tomorrow. I ordered the Kandi Rhinestone Applicator and a bunch of different colored swarovski crystals. I know I want to put crystals on some of my purses. I don't think I'll get carried away with it, just a few here and there. But, I can't wait to get the package tomorrow and see all the pretty colors! I'll get a pic and post it in the next couple of days.

If you have the Kandi applicator, I'd love to know how you like it and what you've used it for. It looked easy when I saw it demonstrated on TV, so I'm hoping it is.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the hard working, busy moms out there! Of course, both of my girls are grown now, but I can say being their mom was and is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. We homeschooled and I loved being with them every day! There is absolutely nothing I would have rather done. They've both matured into lovely women and I'm so very proud of both of them.

I miss my mom and grandma today. Mom passed away in 1999 and grandma in 1998. They were both sewers, actually my grandma made a living as a seamstress. She made the most beautiful clothes and you could not tell they were handmade. My mom made alot of mine and my siblings clothes when we were little and she always made my dad a new flannel shirt for Christmas. I could have learned so much from both of them. I didn't sew much while they were alive, just enough to make a few things for our girls and some maternity clothes for me. I wish I would have taken the time to sit with my grandma and mom and learn more. I think they would have really enjoyed that I'm sewing now and actually selling some things.

The old fashioned things, tradition, slow pace, changing of the seasons. Not so sure about the smart part. lol But, I am pretty obsessive, so all in all it did a good job of getting it right.
